KODIAK BAPTIST MISSION

WOODY ISLAND

It's our hope that while on Woody Island you experience the incredible natural world God has created.   There are not many opportunities to leave Kodiak and Woody Island is a place of retreat, rest and learning.

CAMP WOODY

Once on Woody Island you'll find our residential camp.  Camp Woody is made up of a chapel, cabin areas, a meeting hall and cafeteria.  Kodiak Baptist Mission utilizes this property to provide Christian family and youth camps throughout the year.  Additionally the Kodiak Christian Retreat center holds a month of Bible camp in July and a Woman's Retreat each fall.

Many other groups throughout the Kodiak community take advantage of our camp holding school outings, retreats, Church Family camps and more.   It is our desire to share this gift and we pray others will come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior while at camp.

WANT TO USE THE CAMP OR SPACE ON WOODY ISLAND

There is something unique and special about Woody Island.  It provides a place to get away from the daily rush of life (yes we even have that in Kodiak) and come closer to Jesus. Many have come to know Christ as their personal Lord and Savior through the untouched wilderness and countless who have been called to share the gospel through camping ministry.

Woody Island

The ministry of Kodiak Baptist Mission first began on Woody Island in 1893.  Today Woody Island's only full time residents are a few deer, some other wildlife and our cattle herd.  The cattle play an important role as our year round ground's keepers.  They encourage regeneration of land, control overgrowth and have provided space for the wildflowers to explode each spring and summer.

As the herd grows and develops Kodiak Baptist Mission has been able to use the beef to support the Missionaries at Kodiak Baptist Mission and countless low income families.
