Philippians 4:6-7 “ When peace like a river, attendeth my way. When sorrows like sea billows roll. Whatever my lot, thou has taught me to say it is well, it is well, with my soul,...” (Composers: Horatio Spafford, Philip Paul Bliss) A song written in 1873 by Horatio Spafford after the tragic event of losing his son in 1871, and then his 4 daughters(1873) in the sinking of the SS Ville du Havre while crossing the Atlantic Ocean, is still being sung throughout churches across the world. A song written in tragedy to praise the God of peace. A song that inspires those that sing it today to praise God. A song that is familiar to those of us that walk with Jesus.” It Is Well With My Soul.” You are probably singing it now! During this time of the Pandemic, and changed plans, our rivers of peace that we sat by a few months ago, might be looking more like sea billows rolling in our lives. We can not compare with the tragedy that Horatio Spafford had to endure, but the everyday stress of change and canceled plans can cause restlessness and stress. Philippians 4:6-7 “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Kodiak Baptist Mission knows to rest on the assurance that Jesus is our Peace. Our plans have changed, but our God has not. We are going forward knowing Who guards our hearts and minds from fearing the changes of this present time. We know that we can sing” It is well”, because we know the God of Peace! It is our prayer everyday that every child hears about , and also knows, The God of Peace. Jesus. He makes all things well in our soul! He guards our minds and hearts and gives us peace. His peace. Jesus. He is Peace. It is well with our soul. Eddy and Fran Campbell
